Yep, Finlay's only way of communicating is by shouting, gets even louder when he's excited!! I just repeatedly remind him it's quiet voices inside. Doesn't take a blind bit of notice......

gotta threaten the naughty step/time out area. Warn them not to shout again. If they do they must go on the step for (minutes how old they are), until they are sorry.
I find the naughty step works well with Freddie, its in another room away from his toys/TV & he doesn't like it, so a threat of that, makes him behave. Need to follow the steps though.
1. warn that if bad behaviour repeated, they will go on the step for x minutes.
2. If bad behaviour repeated, take to naughty step
3. explain why they have gone to naughty step
4. tell them they must stay on the step until they are sorry.
5. Leave them for x minutes - keep taking back until x minutes have been fully done.
6. once minutes completed, go back to step, remind them why they were on the step & ask for an apology, once sorry given, ok to play - all forgetton hug & that it.

I ignore any shouted requests/conversation and only answer when asked in normal volume

I was getting so sick of Tilly shouting - that, and her going deaf when I ask her to do soemthing, that I actually took her to the doctors. Turned out she had wax build up in one ear and a mild ear infection in the other - I was mortified as thought she was doing it on purpose, bless her. Maybe check him at the docs before having a go at him, just in case!

I was thinking about this the other day actually. Evan is just permanently loud. Im forever telling him to quiten down and that Im only next to him so he doesnt need to shout but I was thinking that it may be a hearing problem and thats why he shouts.
When he was a baby he had to have hearing tests because the doctors said babies that have been in SCBU are more likely to suffer with hearing problems because of the equipement used and stuff (I dont know why?) maybe I should take him to the doctors
