Default Chicken Pox

So Liv is nearly 4 and so far has managed to escape the Pox, however a friend's daughter has had it and is offering to mingle them so she gets it. Im not sure what to do about it, im glad she hasn't had it yet as i dont like seeing her poorly, and feel a bit mean at the thought of deliberately making her ill, but i've heard that the older they are when they get it the more they suffer?! Part of me would rather she has it now, especially with starting nursery in Sept as it would get it out the way.

What would you do? Thanks xx

My 2 got them off my BIL's kids who all had them over christmas and we were all getting together christmas day. So yes I knew they would probably get them too but wasnt fussed. I dont think I would of gone if it wasnt christmas tho. Since then the pox has gone round the school about 5 times so G would of probably got them then. x

Got to do it all again with new bubba one day x

I'd get it over with hun, I would rather be warned of the onset than it happen later eg Christmas or as we were going on holiday, but thats just me.

I dont see a problem with it, they could be mixing with kids all the time that have it.

Chicken pox is rotten, Jessimae was ok with it but Livvy was really poorly, was awful.
They will get it at some point so I dont see the issue with being a bit sneaky and trying to plan it. We had about 5 weeks out of action when mine had it, time off work etc was not good!!

I would say mingle and get it over and done with. They had it going around Evans nursery but he didnt get it and when my nephew had it, I was going to take Evan round to see him to 'get it over with' but we couldnt make it around there in the end.

It is one of those things that they will get it and the younger they are the better really.

Thanks everyone, think i'll take her at least it hopefully gets it out the way before Nursery starts. Just felt a bit mean deliberately trying to make her ill but i have heard the older they are the worse it is so want to get it over with asap!

Thanks x

Chicken pox is only contagious until the spots scab over (although correct me if I'm wrong) and I think the incubation period is 10-14 days (ish) so don't expect her to fall ill with it straight away!

Although like the others have said, I would rather Finn have it while he was young, OH had it at 22 years and it was bloody awful for him, he suffered big time! (as did I, lol)

If she gets it hope she doesn't suffer too badly! I keep waiting for Finn to get it, especially now he is in playschool and with a childminder while I work! x
