Generally speaking they will both go into the hold. You can leave them as they are but you would be better to get travel bags for both to prevent them getting dirty.
Car seats can be brought onto the plane, but usually only if you have booked a seperate set for your LO. They are then strapped onto the seat and can be used during the flight. That said some airlines will only allow forward facing car seats on in this way. Others aren't as fussy. We have a buggy system which allows us to use the car seat on the buggy frame. When Freddie was little we just traveled with this and didn't bother with the normal buggy. In this case we were able to bring it to the plane as you would with a buggy, they then threw it in the hold for the flight and we got it back at the plane on the other side. If in doubt check out the website for the airline you are flying with, most will give guideline on oversize luggage / flying with children and you'll generally get the info you need in either or both of these sections. Failing that it might be no harm to call the airline and ask. |

never taken a travel cot but car seat i have always put in the hold. if you want to borrow my carseat still Mrs H that is fine, i can drop it over to you, it is a cheapy one so doesn't matter if it gets a bit bashed about in the hold.
generally the car seat is allowed in addition to the luggage. i think the travel cot would take up one of your bag allowances though. xx |
