Default recommendations for waterproof/cagoule

hello

dd is starting school nursery in september and i want to kit her out with a waterproof jacket/cagoule which is lightweight (so slip over another jacket or fleece) and easy for her to put on (when going out to play) and to keep her dry going to and from nursery. had a quick look round on m&s, next and jojo but would welcome some recommendations.

something pretty but practical - some seem more fashion than practical but the practical ones on jojo are over the head ones.

much appreciate your help to avoid expensive mistakes!

thanks

I can't personally recommend the sort you are looking for as we've never had one of those but i remember last autumn mothercare had some decent looking ones that won't break the bank & they weren't over the head ones. x

I got Evan this one from Asda last year. I got a size bigger so he can get it on over his coat/jacket and its still fits him now. Its an over the head one but I love it. Think its quite cool looking. Its nice fabric aswell, doesnt feel stiff like some rain jackets can, its nice and thin and he can move about well enough in it.

thanks - will have a look round asda. or might just go for the flamboyant yellow peppa pig one from next at least it will stand out and nursery should have no problem knowing who's it is hopefully.

Slightly off topic but I avoid Next coats/bags/hats etc for nursery as there always seems to be a fair few other kids with the same and it gets confusing.

Isabella had a peppa pig rucksack from next and other kids were always taking it by mistake! Ditto a hat she had last winter, it looked small and it had been mixed with another childs and she was wearing the same hat but a size smaller and the other kid was swamped in hers. Everything was labelled and came back but it's annoying.

We buy loads in the sales for the following year now, cheaper and less chance of other kids having same.

Even further off topic, avoid Next shoes for kids too unless they are labelled with their name clearly

Isabelle's still wearing one we got from Boots last year. It was a tenner and was really big at the time, so fits well now.

(Agree with Isabellasmum about Next, we've made this mistake with bags and everyone has them at the nursery!).

oops too late - we bought this one from next - which she wore in the house as soon as it arrived and didn't take it off all day. she loves it.

Buy Pink Spot Cagoule from the Next UK online shop

this is going to sound soooooooooooo snobbish but i didn't get the feeling from the induction session that most of the other kids wear next/m&s stuff or clarkes shoes like dd.

but i shall note your warning.
