Noahs just 18months and not walking yet. hes cruising round the furniture and will now use his walker, but thats only been the last few weeks.
Just wondered if you had any tips on getting him walking by himself!
hes talking well and knows sounds and is trying to count but the lazy toad will not walk aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhhhhh hhhhhh
its so frustrating, and painfull to my back. hes a big heavy boy

my friend bought Seb a little push along toy like this & hes gotten more confidence with his walking & thinks its soooo funny to toddle along with it! Maybe he'd feel more secure pushing something along even if its not giving him support.

yeah hes got a walker and a car/chair thingy and he'll walk with them just not on his own. he'll walk holding your hands but as soon as you let go of 1 hand he stops and moans at you.
HV says hes very forward in his words and has got all his teeth. so theres nothing wrong with him in that way, just a slow walker. hes started to climb on the settee and up the stairs too

Mia was a late walker, she could do it but lacked the confidence so OH and me sat about a meter apart and got her to walk from one of us to the other and made a big fuss when she did it then moved further away etc etc and it gave her the confidence she needed xxx

Imogens nursery worker explained to me that children usually are either very physically advancing or mentally advancing at one time, rarely both simalteneously. I was worried cause Dylans nearly 20 months old and still not saying any words at all, just babbling sometimes. But he is exceptionally active, was walking at 10 months old with no pushing at all from us and is always running mad climbing, jumping etc, so it appears his mental faculties are taking a back seat for now! Your Noah seems to be the opposite of Dylan, very switched on cookie upstairs but not so arsed about the physical stuff.
Long winded but hope you get my meaning!

I second exactly what LMM said! My nephew is 10 weeks older than Evan and he started sitting up/crawling/walking way before Evan did so I was always comparing the two, but Evan is alot more advanced than his cousin when it comes to talking/counting/shapes/colours etc. Kids learn everything in their own good time so you cant compare them and Im sure Noah will soon be running around like a mad man and you will be wishing that he was still not walking

Freddie was 17mths before he took to walking, although he'd been cruising round the furniture since he was about 11 months. There were times when I honestly thought he'd never take off on his own but I didn't worry about it too much as I reckoned he was so busy learning so many other things (like talking) there was only so much he could do at once. When he did take off though there was no stopping him and now he's a chatterbox on legs. They all figure it out at their own pace, unfortunately for us it's not always at the pace we'd like.
Today he's running around the house repeating "Hatty Mudder's Day" non-stop. Told him we had to say that to grannyo nthe phone this morning and now there's no stopping him.

Flo didn't walk til 19 months but has always been quite a good talker I think.
One thing we did was take her to a shallow swimming pool, make a gap between us and the water supported her a bit and she could go between us and we got further apart. This was before she started walking independently.
