So sorry to hear your sad news and sorry for your loss honey xxx
I would personally not take Tilly - either she would understand and be upset, or she wouldn't understand and might be inappropriate - or else I reckon she would just be too loud or fidgety during the service, IYKWIM. If you can get childcare, I'd suggest going just you and OH so you can peacefully take it all in without thinking of how to keep the kids occupied. Whatever you decide, I hope it goes ok xxx

I'm with the general consensus, I personally wouldn't take my children to a funeral, don't see any benefit and wouldn't want them to see all of the upset and sadness and not understand it, it would distress my 2.

I personally wouldn't take Joseph to the actual funeral itself, I don't think for a minute he would understand and he would probably be really distressed at everyone being upset.
However, UpsyDaisytoo & Ellie's idea of taking them to the wake is a good one.

If it was a very close family member i would especially if other kids will be there. Jessimae came to my dads but she was younger there was a few kids there.
Do what your comfy with, you know them best and how they will handle itxx

I hadn't thought of the distress of seeing others upset - that's a good point too. And yes, I also think it would be find to take them on later to the wake

Still dont know what to do. Thanks for your replies. I have no one to leave kids to with so will probably take them as there will be other kids there. Not taking them to grave side. xx
