I had a tonsillectomy when i was 19. I don't think I suffered with glandular fever but I did get tonsillitis every 3 weeks or thereabouts and suffered really badly. It was really painful at the time having them out but i'm glad i did it now. Can you ask to be referred to an ENT dr? Hope you feel better. x

Never heard about it helping with glandual fever either. It's unusal for it to last so long - most people have an attack which can last several weeks or longer and then once they get over it they won't get it again as they have built up an immunity to it, even though the virus stays in your system for life. I would get it looked into by a doctor if it causing you so many problems.

I've had GF (I was 15) and I was told once you have it you are immune to it. A few friends have had it too and one suffers with Chronic fatigue syndrome which has very similar symptoms. I'd go back to your Dr. Hope you get some advice on what to do xxxxxxxxx

rang doctor, he said sounds like I'm just prone to glandular fever, its rare but not unheard of for people to get it regularly. He's given me penicillin and more cocodamol thank god, the penicillin usually clears it up. Bit embarrassed, he almost laughed at me when I asked about a tonsilectomy, never heard of it being done to help gf
Till next time then! OH will be very disappointed I'm not having my tonsils out, apparently this reduces your gag reflex ![]() |
