Do you think I can stop sterilising now?
Finlay is just over 10 months, will be 11 months on 23rd Nov. He only has 2 bottles now, brekkie and bedtime. Do you think I can stop sterilising now? He's fast approaching 1 anyway and it's a pain in the bum sometimes only needing to sterilise 2 bottles and if we forget by the time I'm getting his milk ready at bed time, it's a pain in the neck!! His bottles are washed in the dishwasher at a high temp, think it's 70 or 75 degrees, so surely this would kill off any bacteria left by the milk anyway???? When did you all stop, did you wait until the year? I just don't see what difference a couple of months is going to make but also I obviously don't want Finlay to get unwell. Any advice suggestions, knowledge?????

Hi,
I asked my HV last time I saw her if I could stop sterilising now that Molly is 1 but she said that as long as she is still having a bottle, they should be sterilised.
Having said that, I know other mums that no longer sterilise and they've had no problems at all.
Sorry that's not much help at all!!!!!! I'm still sterilising, may as well carry on now coz I'll have another LO's bottles to sterilise soon xxxx

We usually just wash Ethan's bottles, teats and dummies in hot soapy water these days. We've not really steralised since he was 10 months. We haven't had any problems at all.

I know, I do worry but last night I was late in and hubby didn't think to do them so by the time Fin went up for his bath, they hadn't been done and so it was too late or otherwise by the time they were done and then cool enough and then milk heated etc Finlay would have been beside himself waiting, so I did use it unsterilised *Gasps*. Again this morning as I usually sterilise in 2's, one for bed and one for morning as I put them in the fridge after sterilised so ok for 24 hours. So to all those who have stopped, if I wash them in the dishwasher at the highest temp, what should I do with them then? Still pop them in the fridge to make sure they stay clean? Sorry to sound thick here!!
