I'm still sterilising Logie's bottles as I heard that even washing well might not get rid of the harmful bacteria that builds up when the formula milk residue goes off! But if you're putting them in the dishwasher maybe that cleans them better? Or if you wash them as soon as your LO is finished with them I'm sure that is fine too! I'm too lazy and don't wash them til I run out of bottles so they could be sitting dirty for a while. At least sterilising means I'm sure they're fine! I'll probably continue til he's eating a good enough diet so I can switch completely to cows milk!

I use a steam steriliser and I just feel that although yes steam is hotter, they are being washed in very hot water in the dishwasher so surely it's really the same??????

Yes, Finlay has taken to eating leaves and finding the tiniest crumbs of food that I think I've cleaned up on the floor and eats them so I guess I shouldn't worry about the bottles LOL!!

We switched to the dishwasher (from sterilizer) at five months. You won't know what to do with all your extra time, it's that great!

Sophie was breastfed untill now but even when i used a bottle for expressed milk hers would just get washed in the dishwaser along with our stuff and the same now, to be honest my opinion is that they should be exposed to some germs to challenge their immune system and some people can worry to much when it wont actually do any harm.... Sophie has never had any problems and han honestly say she not had one cold yet!!!

I agree with l1nz007, my mum never sterilized my bottles, or Dorian's bottles, just washes them normally, and I was fine and he is fine. I agree about the germs too, he gets bugs but not as many and not as severely as the other kids in his nursery who live in a completely sterile environment. I think they need to be exposed to some germs, or any bug will knock them for six, because they haven't had a chance to build up any type of resistance.
