Today's discussion.... Madonna!

So it seems that Madonna is planning on adopting another child from Malawi, can't decide how I feel about it. One part of me is glad that an orphan is being given the chance of a better life but another part is appalled that there are so many couples in the world who want to adopt but get caught in all the red tape and paperwork but Madonna just goes, picks one out and hey presto, like picking something up from the supermarket!

What are your thoughts?

Same as you really, its so hard for so many childless couples to adopt but just because she is famous its easy for her, but is good for the child so can't knock that.
Would also have thought she has a lot to deal with at the moment just going through a break up and divorce, I would have thought a bit of quiet time with the children she already has would be needed.

I think shes a selfish cow, its all about her not the kids... shes rich/famous but does that make her a good mum?

its disgusting that she can waltz in and "pick" a child, especially as she then is taking that child to a completely different country, with a different culture.

Also i read in the paper today that the childs Nana is fuming about her grandchild being adopted as she always said she wanted her & will be fighting this adoption.

If she wants to help orphans why doesnt she set up a fund for them? Or open a school or something like that?

Madonna just irritates me at the mo, like you say teilosmummy you'd think she want some quiet time with the children she does have after going through a divorce and settling them not bringing a new child into their lives!!!!

I think its just a celeb thing to do! Like the lastest handbag, shoes etc.

I dont agree with it and think she should do more to help the communites as a whole like as some said schools, health care etc.

And you would wonder about how much time she actually spends with the children. I mean do you think she puts up with the constant tantrums, sleepless nights etc that come with having children or does she have a fulltime nanny?

And again like others have said she has just gone through a divorce and is technically a single parent. Now what single parents do you know are allowed to adopt..........................

I can't stand madonna, I personally think that with all the money she has she would be better to donate a loada dish that will benefit several children and not just one iykwim, maybe she already does, but she does just irritate me and I think she looks bloody awful!! x

I used to love Madonna, can't stand her now and this is just yet again all about her stauts. Really fcuks me off!

I think the whole Grandparent thing is the Granny getting some money off the papers telling them something they deem "newsworthy"

If I were a kid in an African orphanage I daresay I would be happy to be adopted by Madonna. Overjoyed more like.

well its been turned down.
I think this is probaly for the best, not only does it make these rich celebs realize they cant just fly in and pick a child like an accessory but i imagine that the child is going to be helped financially now to be able to stay in Malawi with family. I cant imagine Madonna will now turn her back and do nothing to help now shes met the child and spent time with her, if thats the case then i think the child is very lucky as she stays with family and is helped out of poverty
