Default Rubbish!

Rubbish thread this, lookin fur a bin

My mate swears by Brabantia - are they worth the money? I'm looking at the bargains on Homebase website, but I don't wanna just get another cheap one that breaks on me again.

What ya got and should I get it?

I have a crappy plastic pedal bin from sainsburys.

I didn't want to spend much as when we have a new kitchen it might not fit the space.

I like the look of the Simple Human bins but think most are skanky and dirty

TBH I don't think they are worth the money.

If I had one recommendation on bin it would be don't get a pedal bin, find the pedal thing packs up after a while, but get one of those touch top ones (Brabantia do them but shops make their own brand as well).

We had pedal bin and where the lid springs up everytime you push the pedal down the paint on the wall behind is all chipped, the touch top ones are much gentler IYKWIM.

We had one and I got fed up with it's special sized bin liners that always tore and cost more than any other bin liners. I now have one from Ikea that can use plastic carrier bags to line it.

Hmmm maybe mine isn't a pedal one then as it doesn't have a pedal...

My brother has the ikea one that fits on the inside of the cupboard and uses carrier bags. Is very practical but the lid is a dodgy fit.

Up until a year ago I refused to have a bin as they freak me out from a hygiene point but carrier bags look crappy so I relented. Mine is a 40l and sometimes the bags rip but usually only if it's overfilled. I get round it by tying the bag on top and carrying the whole thing to the dustbin and tipping it in. Looks charming...

We had a 50 litre brabantia and it lasted well until Finlay came along and became obsessed with opening and closing it so the mechanism on the soft touch close lid broke and then we couldn't get the lid to come up anymore. Have now just got a cheap £5 one from tesco and it does the job!! Don't think it's worth getting a brabantia tbh, they're really no different other than they look better so very expensive for no reason and the brabantia bags (which were the only ones that actually fitted it) were expensive too. Not worth it IMO xx

We have this hunking chunk of gorgeousness from Curver.

As far as bins go we like it and it means it's easy to recycle stuff .

I found the bags ripped but I now buy the 50l bag for 35l bin. We recycle most things now anyway so only emptied once a week twice most. xx To stop kids using the soft touch I turned it round xx
