Default goats milk

hi. my little boy, Jacob has been on goats milk since he was one and his health has been a lot better. He's intolerant to dairy which caused him terrible tummy pains and ALOT of loose nappies. yoghurt and cheese are the worst offenders. Goats milk has helped although it hasnt reduced his eczema, he still suffers terribly. make sure you give them the full fat stuff though!!!

Intolerance can be tested, my LO was, plastic wrap in nappy and catch the poo, place in small containers, and take to hospital they test it ... and confirmed intolerance.

thanks, thats interesting, i have gone back to cows milk to see if any difference & can't detect any, but i've stopped giving yoghurt & fromage frais & so far no further sickiness. Nappies are still loose, but they always have been. still am giving cheese (cream cheese & grated hard cheese), might cut these out for a little while to see. thanks.

hi my son jack is 15 mnths old now and has been on enfamil formula since 4 months old when his paed gp suspected intollarance to cows milk protein ( lactose). he had bad tummy, wind, runny poos, ezema on his torso and upper back and generally miserable. within a week , he was 80-85% better and a happy little boy!, now over a year old trying him on cows milk, same reaction , now trying goats milk to see.... but i saw on an earlier thread someone said goats milk had the same proteins - i dont know if that is right , the issue is generally about lactose intollerance which is where they are allergic to cows milk protein , could the anyone confirm if there is lactose in goats milk??????
also jack has goats cheese and fruit purees instead of youghurts and i and he are used to this, might try him on goats youghurts if i can find some....
i found the worst thing was always youghurt of fromage frais, he loved them but always threw up within 30 mins of having a little bit!
he is a robust and strong little boy and you just get round most of it ... bit trying at times though! any help gratefully received....
gp told me no to soya based formulas for boys as it is supppsed to cause a prob with fertility!
xx

I replaced cows milk for goats milk for my daughters eczema. Thankfully she took to it really well and her ezcema is completely gone. There are lots of places now that also do goats milk ice cream which is a good way to get your LO to take it. I am lucky in that I have someone who produces it local to where I am in northern Ireland. Check out www.butterflylodge.co.uk - they are an Essex based farm which uses goats milk for all of its products, including ice cream.

Him my litle one who is 17 momyhs now didn't like cows milk when we switched off from formula milk, she ahd lots of wind and bad nappies, I gave her goats milk straight away and she loved it. Goats milk is known to be better to digest and it works for her.
good luck
