Default Dairy & Egg Free Recipe Book?

Hello

Im new here, just had a quick look around but I wondered if Annabel had a book with recipes for allergy sufferers? Does anyone know if the fussy eater one is suitable at all?

My little boy is allergic to Egg and Dairy and Im finding it hard to think of new and healthy meals and snacks for him. Theres so much I want to make with cheese or eggs feel so sorry for him.

Hi

My son aged 2.5 also has the same allergies, I have found a really good cookbook titled "How to cook for food allergies" by Lucinda Bruce-Gardyne. This is by far the best book i have found, and has recipes from baby purees to adult. The best thing about this book is that it details how to adapt your own recipes with alternative ingredients. My son loves the recipe for fairy cakes!

Hi Michelle, I read this post a week or so ago and bought the book you recommend as my 1 year old son is also allergic to egg and I'm sure he has a problem with dairy too (I think it brings on his eczema). We are just about to embark on a trial dairy and egg free period and wanted some help in planning menus.

The book is absolutely excellent, shows you how to make the every day recipes while cleverly and successfully substituting the allergens with other egg free, wheat/gluten free, dairy free, nut free alternatives in the right amounts so that the recipes taste just as gorgeous. A real step up from completely avoiding the foods that kids are allergic to.

I thought this was great, now my LO can still enjoy his macaroni cheese, cakes, biscuits and pasta dishes - absolutely magic Don't like to think of my LO missing out and having to suffer so I would also recommend this book to others coming across this post.

Thanks Michelle

Default Egg, Dairy & soy free

My son is 18 months old and in allergic to diary and eggs, after being at GOSH all day yesterday they have now told me he is allergic to Soy. I did purchase some really good books that i have found useful.

The Milk-Free kitchen (Non dairy only)
The Allergy Free Diet plan for babies and Children (All Allergies & recipes)
Healthy Dairy Free Eating (Non dairy only)
The Allergy Bible - This is more a comprehensive guide to allergies and their symptoms.

Also you can use an egg replacer with is available in healthstores so that you can make normal cake mixes i think it is 20g of egg replacer for every egg in the recipe. My son is currently under two dieticians and if you kind has simlar allegies you should be able to consult one at your local hospital.

My son has now been prescribe Neocate again but the banana flavoured one, i have problems getting him on this, if anyone has any advice i would be grateful to hear it.

Default milk Substitute

I also have been prescibed Neocate but my 1 year old finds it horrible. It also can decay their teeth as it is a glucose drink. I am trying different options, like Rice Milk with calcium (giving Biocare 'kids complete complex' vitamin suppliment) for extra calcium etc. I am still at a loss whether to introduce this fully for all his feeds. A bit confused. If anyone else has a child with Soya, dairy allergies. What do you feed your child milk wise???
