Hi Elle. You can just use plain flour, self raising flour or cornflour, and mix with water or fizzy water to make a similar consistency to ordinary batter. Self raising flour and fizzy water both give the batter a lighter puffier end result in whatever mix and match batter your cupboard allows.

Thanks for your responses. Jack's one in two weeks.
I will have a go and see how I get on. Although saying that I made the apple and chicken balls the other day and he was not impressed at all - most of it ended up on the floor!! Elle |
