Default had a really scary day!!!

MY BABY IS ALERGIC TO RASPBERRIES! gave amy-lou fresh raspberries today for the first time with her greek yogurt that she has often.blended and sieved them and stired in the bit of juice from only 6 raspberries and within half an hour her breathing was eratic and struggled and she came up in a really fiery red rash and raised white and red blotches all over her body! her eyelids went purple and her face and body became puffy and swolen, iv never seen anything like it, was so scared. her breathing settled after half hour to just a kind of wheezing and her skin slowly started to settle after a couple of hours. was perscribed anti hystamines eventually but was left in a waiting room for ages, as if a blochy red baby having trouble breathing wasnt a priority!!! bleeping NHS!!!

Oh Jen, sorry to hear you had an awful day! HUGS! I would have thought the NHS would have treated it as an emergency! Did you call an ambulnace, go to A&E or an out of hours doctor or what? What happens now: will you be referred to a dietician or allergy clinic?

R has a milk intolerance and it gives him a rash but he doesnt have an allergy to it but all the same I know how wary I am when trying him on new stuff in case he does react.

Hope Amy-Louise is ok now. And you are too: I'd suggest you have a nice glass of vino but then again, if you're like me, after anything like this happens, you wont be able to settle tonight and will just keep going in to check on her.

Take care, hun!

You poor thing ... that's my biggest fear and i think when your LO eats everything happily you just think that the next thing you introduce will be fine ... mine is nearly 1 and I still have not tried strawberries or berries of any sort due to her deliciateness .. i often think bugger it will try something .. but after reading your situation i think I will rethink ... am glad all worked out in the end you would have been scared out of your boots. are you getting your LO allergy tested ??

did you eat any raspberries whilst pregnant/breastfeeding?

I have tried to eat all the berry potential allergens so hopefully my little one will be fine when he comes to eat them himself
