Question Dairy Free Recipes

Hi everyone
My son James is 9 months old and is currently on a dairy free diet also seems to react to tomatoes. I am looking for any suggestions with dairy free finger foods and sandwich fillings. He wants to feed himself at the moment and I am running out of ideas.
Any advice would be great
Thanks
Alison

Have you tried chunks of tofu? I think that it is fortified with calcium as well so doubly good! You can just keep it in the fridge and cut chunks off for him. Avocado is also nice mixed with tuna or mashed egg as a sandwich filling. Can't think of anything else at the mo...

Hi, mashed avocado or homemade applesauce on toast. Lentils cooked with garlic & onion & grated carrot, cooked down thick, spread on toast. Peas and corn. Any kind of mince, cooked up quickly, makes great finger food. Salmon cooked and mashed with potato, then you can make them into little balls. My son loves that. Pork and apple patties with bread crumbs (obviously homemade crumbs with dairy-free bread). We give our son a whole, peeled apple and he loves to chew on that. Blueberries, cut up strawberries. Eggy bread cut into cubes. Lentils cooked with rice, curry, and then a dollop of soy yogurt stirred in (makes it stick together and our son will eat it by the handful). Boneless chicken cooked with tomato and red peppers, let the sauce get very thick. Again, our son eats with his hands, bless! meatloaf cut into cubes (dairy free bread crumbs and no cheese). Roasted chicken cut into cubes. Lamb cooked with prunes and stirred into couscous (it will all stick together and baby can pick it up). Pasta twirls with tomato sauce (again eaten with the hands). Turkey cutlets dipped in egg then crumbs/herbs, then pan-fried in olive oil -- cut them into strips once cooled.

There's a few ideas, anyway. I know how hard it is without cheese and all the other staples of childhood!!!

Default Help I'm new to this

Hi everyone

My son Josh is 7 months and is allergic to cow's milk protein. We're just starting second stage weaning and so many of the recipies contain cheese. Is there any alternative? Has anyone tried the recipies without adding the cheese? were they any good?

Lindsey

Hi I buy a dairy and lactose free cheese it is called Cheezly I found this in my local tesco and also health food shops. I find this ok to cook with and also in little sandwiches. I think it tastes awful but he quite likes it.

Hi the cheese is soya based. The ingredients are Soya,Potato Starch, Non-hydrogenated vegtable fats. I have found this excellent to add to fish pies and on top of pasta.
