Hi, i wonder if anyone can give me some suggestions. My 11 month old son has a food intolerance, at present i think it is to either Flour or Yeast and im struggeling to find things to feed him for snacks, the por boy seems constantly hungry at the moment and fruit just isnt filling him. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Protein is more filling thanf fruit so maybe try things like cheese, omlettes (chopped up), hard boiled egg. Also veg is also more filling for longer because of the lower sugar content so steamed or raw veg sticks are good.
Have you had him properly tested for the intolerance ? Flour is very general, if it is more specific to gluten or wheat then you could try either gluten free flour to bake your own goods, or try baking with other grains to make bread, muffins, pancakes etc. Another alternative would be to try baking with something like rice flour, or a blend of alternative flours. There are a good list of ideas on this site Flour substitutions and gluten-free flour mixes-- Ellen's Kitchen as to what you could substitute when baking. Most of the flours would probably only be available in a health food shop rather than the supermarket, but using them would allow you to bake things like muffins (sweet or savoury) or scones and make pancakes. |
