Hi
My daughter may or may not have a problem with dairy and we are in the process of finding out. She is now on Pepti milk by C&G so hopefully this will make a difference to her. I am currently struggling to find anything other than fruit to give her for her pudding - is there anything i can make that is dairy free and would appeal to a 9 month old ??? Any ideas appreciated Cazz |

You can make rice puddings, using flaked rice, or pudding rice, and rice milk. I stir in some coconut milk at the end sometimes, or a spoonful of manuka honey instead of sugar. It's quick to make on the hob, or follow the recipe on the side of the pudding rice packet! If you're using the oven approach, add extra rice milk as it absorbs quicker.
I also make upside-down cakes, using a non-stick muffin tray. Make a standard cake mix using Pure sunflower marg rather than butter or spread. You can also use an equivalent volume (to weight) of light olive oil. Grease the tin and drop a spoonful of treacle in the bottom, add a spoonful of finely chopped pineaple (or a strawberry, raspberry or blueberries) and pop two spoons of the cake mix on top. 10 mins at 170degrees and yum! Do remember to let them cool well first! Hot fruit and small children not a good mix. You'll also need a hot flannel at hand afterwards for sticky fingers/face/head! Not a frequent dessert choice perhaps, but great when you're having visitors as everyone loves a cake! Get a baking sheet and tip the whole tray on to it and they should just slide out...tho you may need to experiment a few times with this one!! Have fun! You could test her with an Alpro soya yoghurt. My son couldn't tolerate these, something to do with the protein chains in soya being very close to the protein chains in milk. He was OK with the long life soya puddings, but I dropped those too anyway! |

We are just going through this with my youngest. Saw a dietician this week and I said I was struggling with puds. She said Birds Eye custard powder ( it's all cornflour and flavouring) use oatmilk ( found in long life milk section) or whatever you are using if suitable. Can use oatmilk for rice puds too.
I have some dairy free margarine and going to make fruit crumbles. |
