Due to the nature of my job, I started this thread as I felt I had to publicly say what the MRHA said. I linked it to their site too and I found the general news articles about it useless as they didnt say why it was happening or what products were affected

Oh Rachaelmae, perfect!: a woman who feels the same as me!!!!!!! Yes, obviously a few people dont understand that these are medicines and the dose is there for a good reason and shouldnt be exceeded!
As for the cough bottle evidence, yes, even in adults the evidence to show usefullness is rather lacking. Even the bottles taht the government say are ok for babies ie the glycerol based ones arent any use bar coating the throat to try to stop a tickle!
