Can you go on a Diet and Breastfeed ?

Your breastfeeding diet is just as important when you are breastfeeding as it was when you were pregnant because you are the primary source of nourishment for your baby. Although you are no doubt keen to lose the extra weight as soon as possible, you shouldn’t embark on a crash diet when breastfeeding. Instead avoid empty calories and a healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and lean meats, fish and wholegrains.

Don’t forget that there are lots of available resources for breastfeeding information including National Childbirth Trust and the Department of Health.
