Baby development:-

• A newborn baby is only able to focus on objects 20 to 25cm (8 to 10” away). She won’t see you clearly unless you’re very close to her. However, your baby will look intently at your face when you hold her.

• Your baby will recognise you more by smell and sound than by vision.

• Any mobiles you hang above her cot are visible but blurred so choose one with plenty of contrast such as black and white.

• Your baby was attached to you in your womb for 9 months and now she has no concept that she is separate from you. It will be a while before your baby realises that her hands are a part of her or that she has any control over them
